Classic Burgundy - Merino/Silk/Yak
Fibre: 60% Superwash Merino, 20% Silk, 20% Yak (Tibetan)
Weight: Double Knitting / light worsted/ 8 ply / 11 wpi (4 ply construction)
Meterage: 212m or 232 yards per 100g/ 3.5 Oz skein
Recommended needle size: 3.25mm - 4.5mm depending on the gauge for your project.
For jumpers: 3.25mm - 4.0mm
For shawls: 4.5mm - 5mm (creates a looser fabric with more drape)
Recommended care: Although this is a Superwash Merino we recommend hand washing cool to preserve the best of the yarn and colour due to the Yak content, use a gentle detergent or specific wool wash. Do not bleach. Do not wring out, do not tumble dry.
Such a classic; elegant, timeless and rich, we adore Burgundy for winter woolies that can dress up or down - as a more formal structured garment or a cosy jumper for a winter walk. This base is the perfect match too, with a luxurious blend of Merino, Silk and Yak you get a wonderful mix of softness, lustre, warmth and drape. Ideal for next to skin garments, jumpers, cardigans and shawls. This beautiful base has become one of our favourites for winter warmers you can’t help but touch.
While we do our best to keep our colours consistent each hand dyed yarn is one of a kind so we advise alternating skeins in a multi-skein project. See FAQs for more information.
